Washington WR Denzel Boston has been one of the best pass catchers in college football over the last two years. He has scored 20 touchdowns since 2024 and has recorded over 1,600 yards. He has the ability to be the X WR the 49ers don’t have on their roster at this time.
The 49ers are expected to move on from Brandon Aiyuk this offseason, which will make their need for a WR even more severe. The team’s top pass catchers as of late have been non-WRs in TE George Kittle and RB Christian McCaffrey, but they owe it to QB Brock Purdy to improve the WR position this offseason.
On top of Aiyuk, the team could also lose Jauan Jennings, who is set to be a free agent. Boston would form a young duo with Ricky Pearsall. With Boston’s size and Pearsall’s speed, paired with the proven success of Kittle and McCaffrey, the 49ers offense could be ready to make some real noise and be a dangerous unit for the 2026 season and beyond.
