NASHVILLE — Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is considered to be the most explosive offensive player in the 2026 NFL Draft. As the Tennessee Titans determine whom they will select No. 4 overall, there are certain considerations that must be made to avoid the kind of mistake that the Las Vegas Raiders made when they selected 2025 top running back Ashton Jeanty.
Self-awareness is critical.
Titans must accurately assess current roster construction
NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic weighed in on the idea of Love to Tennessee in an appearance with The Buck Reising Show on 104.5 The Zone.
“I think that (Love) should be in consideration,” Brugler said. “You have the discussion, you debate it. At the end of the day, I think you come away saying, I think we’re better off going in this different direction, whether that’s a receiver, whether it’s an edge rusher, whatever it may be.
“The running back feels like more of a finishing touch for this team rather than someone they should build around. I say that gritting my teeth because he’s such an awesome player, and he’d just be so much fun to watch in that offense in the same backfield as Cam Ward. I just think that where your roster construction is right now, they’re better off going in a different direction.”
The Titans are very much a work in-progress around Ward.
Ward and the offensive line struggled mightily for two thirds of the quarterback’s rookie season. Tennessee could not run the ball with any measure of consistency until late November, forcing Ward into a series of perpetual dropback games to start his career. The Raiders selected Jeanty with the No. 6 pick last year, but were in no position to add a running back at the time. Las Vegas’ offensive line was a mess and the defense was a mess. Even a really talented running back like Jeanty could be contained, especially when the passing game was as floundering.
If the Titans trust their line, Love is worth the risk.
