Photo of the food that Tennessee’s football team is now being served goes viral and it looks incredible
It’s easy to see why players don’t want to leave college these days.
One of the most important changes the Tennessee Vols made this offseason was hiring Katie O’Connor away from Kansas to serve as the program’s Director of Nutrition.
Before working at Kansas, O’Connor served as the assistant football performance dietitian at LSU for two seasons (2022 and 2023).
O’Connor works closely with new strength coach Derek Owings to ensure that each player’s unique nutritional needs are met.
Additionally, Owings and O’Connor, along with the rest of the performance staff, have removed many of the unhealthy food and drink options from the facility.
“He’s got a plan,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price this week of Owings. “He’s very passionate about the stuff that he believes in…the full sugar Gatorade is gone, the fried chicken is gone. He’s really trying to change the mindset of Tennessee football.”
The new menu at Tennessee looks amazing
On Wednesday, O’Connor tweeted a photo of some of the food that Tennessee’s players are now being served.
And it looks incredible.
I see why these guys don’t want to leave college now. Gone are the days of Phillip Fulmer discreetly delivering tacos to players like Arian Foster.
And Tennessee’s garnish game, as my podcast partner Charlie Burris pointed out, is elite.
This isn’t the 90s anymore. Heck, this isn’t even the 2010s anymore — college football is on a different level in the post-COVID era.

Vitello, who spent eight seasons as the head coach of the Tennessee Vols, toyed around this spring with the idea of, at times, calling pitches from the dugout. The […]
