Alec Pierce to the Buffalo Bills feels like a pipedream, but this is the time of year when it’s fun to dream. Pierce is coming off his best season as a professional and is due for a massive new contract, though it may not be with the Indianapolis Colts. Buffalo could absolutely use his services — even after agreeing to trade for DJ Moore.

Quarterback Josh Allen would be gift-wrapped a true No. 1 wide receiver if the Bills were somehow able to strike a deal for the upcoming free agent, if he even hits free agency. Rumors are swirling that the Colts will make a deal before he can test the waters, but here’s hoping he gets to test them out a little bit when free agency officially kicks off next week.

“I love Indy,” Pierce said. “But at this point, I’ve kind of earned the right to explore free agency.”

Plenty of teams will be calling, and rightfully so.

Alec Pierce opens up on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen

While appearing on the Up & Adams show with host Kay Adams, Pierce was asked about a handful of teams as potential free agency landing spots when Buffalo came up. Pierce’s response was nothing short of incredible when he was asked what it would be like to play with Allen and company.

“That’d be special, I mean, he’s one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL,” Pierce said. “Big fan of his game, always. Yeah, that’d be cool, too.”

Getting Pierce would be no small task, and it would require some salary cap gymnastics to make the deal work — especially after acquiring Moore, who’s not exactly inexpensive. With teams like the New England Patriots also looking for his services, Buffalo would have to bring the best offer to the table to acquire the star pass-catcher.

Pierce fully arrived in 2025, finishing the season with 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns. He fully understands that with his new contract, those reception numbers are going to go up in a big way. Being a true No. 1 wide receiver in the game, you’d like to see those numbers jump, and it’s something that Pierce fully expects whenever and wherever he inks his new deal.

“I’m no longer going to be an 80-target player,” Pierce said. “If I get paid this big contract, they’re going to have to throw me the ball more.”

Whether Pierce actually makes it to free agency remains to be seen, but if he does, Buffalo should absolutely be making that call. For now, it might just be a dream scenario for Bills Mafia, but this time of year is all about dreaming big.
