The Baltimore Ravens have completed their villain arc with a massive free agent signing after pulling out of the Maxx Crosby deal
Eric DeCosta certainly didn’t make any friends with this one.
The Baltimore Ravens are the talk of the NFL this morning after a stunning turn last night.
The team’s blockbuster deal for Maxx Crosby was canned after the Ravens reportedly didn’t like what they saw from Crosby’s physical with the team, reneging on a trade agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders that would have sent the 14th overall pick and a 2027 first-round pick to Las Vegas for his services. It was…not a popular development. And the latest domino isn’t going to help the public perception of the Ravens — they’ve agreed to terms with free agent Trey Hendrickson.
Ravens agree to terms on monster deal with EDGE Trey Hendrickson
The Ravens’ swap to save two first-round picks and simply sign Hendrickson is probably going to turn out to be good business for Baltimore. There appears to be plenty of meat on the bone for both Crosby and Hendrickson’s respective careers. But this free agent deal, which is worth up to $120 million across four seasons, happening the morning after Baltimore pulled out of the Crosby move?
That’s a tough look.
Baltimore was hammered throughout the evening hours of last night, with one current NFL general manager telling Tom Pelissero that the decision to pull out by the Ravens was a “bullshit move“. Baltimore was always going to need to move on with their business upon the decision to pull out of the trade with Las Vegas. But the Hendrickson signing hitting this close behind that decision? I’d imagine Eric DeCosta doesn’t have very many in his corner on this one. It’s a full-on heel turn for the Ravens.
