Tennessee’s Rick Barnes had a perfect response to the North Carolina Tar Heels job being open
Tennessee Vols head coach Rick Barnes is always a jokester.
The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking for a new head coach after firing Hubert Davis.
UNC is expected to targets names like Billy Donovan, Tommy Lloyd, and Dusty May, among many others.
Tennessee Vols head coach Rick Barnes, who is 71, is not a name that anyone expects the Tar Heels to target.
A reporter in Chicago mentioned to Barnes on Thursday, ahead of the Vols’ Sweet 16 matchup on Friday with Iowa State, that he’s the one coach that probably won’t be asked about the North Carolina job this weekend.
Barnes, being the jokester that he is, quicky pointed out that he’s from North Carolina.
Barnes is from Hickory and played college basketball at Lenoir–Rhyne.
There’s no doubt that Barnes has a lot of respect for the North Carolina logo, but he’s all Vol.
