The Miami Dolphins, like every other team drafting inside the top half of the 2026 NFL Draft, were surely curious to see what Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy would look like when he finally put his hand to the ground and took off running.

After over a year off since last going 100%, it didn’t look like he missed a step on Tuesday at Tennessee’s Pro Day.

McCoy blazed a 40-yard dash time south of 4.40 seconds, proving during an overall impression day that his knee is just fine.

In addition to his 40 time — which Tennessee’s official site listed as 4.37 seconds — McCoy participated in the vertical and broad jumps. He posted a 38-inch vertical jump and a broad jump of 10 feet, 7 inches.

That ought to answer any questions about his recovery since tearing his ACL back in January 2025. He missed the entire season for Tennessee last year despite being around the team and practicing, with rumblings speculating a possible in-season return.

Todd McShay said on Tuesday that McCoy opted not to return after he was cleared last season. However, the timing of that clearance was unknown, and to the extent he was cleared after the Vols’ playoff-killing loss on November 1 to Oklahoma, then it’s understandable why he wouldn’t risk it.

If McCoy is still on the board when Miami is up at No. 11, then the Dolphins would be in position to pick one of the most productive cornerbacks from the 2024 season. He brings the total package as a boundary corner. McCoy allowed just a 50% catch rate in 2024 and an opposing passer rating of 53.6 when targeted. He also had a missed tackle rate of just 7%, per Pro Football Focus.

There are a number of ways the Dolphins can go at No. 11, so it’ll be a very tough call for GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley when they’re on the clock. And McCoy likely just made things a good bit tougher for them.
