The Philadelphia Eagles have plenty of roster maneuvering to handle over the next portion of the offseason. The 2026 NFL Draft will play a heavy hand in their plans for next season and beyond.

GM Howie Roseman has doubled down on support for experienced kicker Jake Elliott, but frustrations from the last two seasons via the fan base may push the Birds to move on from him if the struggles continue for the veteran boot.

Eagles have their eye on top rookie kicker

According to Ryan Fowler, the Eagles have shown extensive interest in Houston Cougars kicker Ethan Sanchez. He reportedly had an hour-long call with the Eagles recently, along with a meeting following his Pro Day performance.

The interest is clear from Philly. Sanchez was one of the best kickers in college football last season.

Jake Elliott’s struggles may force Howie Roseman’s hand

After a 93.8 FG made percentage in 2023, Elliott has hobbled to a 77.8% and 74.1% mark over the past two years.

He has not been nearly the same sort of consistent force, from in close or afar, that he was previously in his career. Elliott’s dominance pushed him firmly into the discussion for best kicker in team history, so struggles down the stretch could taint that ideal.

Elliott went 4/8 on attempts from 50+ yards, the worst FG percentage in the NFL among the 35 kickers who attempted at least 5 from that range in 2025.

We will see how Philly addresses the kicking situation to complete the offseason, but Sanchez is surely firmly on their radar as a young option to replace Elliott.
