Forward J.P. Estrella is one of several Tennessee Vols players that entered the NCAA transfer portal following the end of the season.
Estrella, a former four-star recruit from Maine, spent the first three seasons of his career with the Volunteers.
The 6-foot-11 forward averaged a career high 10.0 points in 33 games (with 13 starts) for Tennessee last season.
An early favorite emerges for Vols transfer forward J.P. Estrella
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, the Kansas Jayhawks have emerged as an early favorite to land Estrella.
Nakos also noted that the Indiana Hoosiers are a program to potentially watch for the former Vol.
“Kansas and Indiana have been tied to the Tennessee transfer,” wrote Nakos. “Sources have indicated to On3 at this point that the Jayhawks sit in a better spot, but that could change quickly if Indiana shifts its focus and attention over to Estrella.”
Transfer decisions often move quickly, and things can change at seemingly a moment’s notice. But for now, it looks like Estrella could be playing for a blue blood this fall.
