The Oklahoma Sooners are the hottest team in recruiting right now, and it could only get better. There are still a ton of players they could land in this 2027 class, only expanding their lead over teams like USC, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.

Four-star linebacker Case Alexander could still end up choosing OU, as could Ben Kolar, the four-star tight end right in their backyard at Norman North. Then, there are two more that Oklahoma is going after heavily. Don’t believe me? OU’s top player in the 2027 recruiting class, Cooper Hackett, is sending his own message to the rest of the country that OU is going after two guys in particular.

Sooners’ top priorities in 2027 class

  • LB Case Alexander
  • TE Ben Kolar
  • CB Gabriel Osborne
  • S Bode Sparrow

Cooper Hackett is sending a strong recruiting message

“I know we’re focused on Bode Sparrow; I know we all want Gabe Osborne,” Hackett told Sooner Scoop. “They’re the top two. I really want to get Gabe up here. He’s a guy not too far from me, and we both have that basketball relationship. I think it’s pretty cool. But I really want to get Gabe up here with him being in-state.”

The Sooners have been pursuing Gabriel Osborne, the No. 11 cornerback in the 2027 class and the No. 3 player in Oklahoma, for some time. Osborne is also a standout basketball player at Mustang High School, showcasing his versatility as a dual-sport athlete. Rivals projects Oklahoma to land him, but Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Ohio State are also strong contenders. He could easily be a five-star by the time he gets on campus.

Sparrow is a top 100 player in the 2027 class, as he plays safety and wide receiver. However, he is being recruited as a safety. Sparrow is 6’2, 200 pounds, and has all the tools teams in the SEC will want to be a good safety. He’s currently a four-star, but could also level up to a five-star by the time he graduates high school. The Sooners desperately want him as well.
