Tennessee Vols predicted to miss out on 2027 five-star recruit who is receiving interest from the top programs in college football
The Tennessee Volunteer are one of several programs in the mix for an elite 2027 five-star offensive lineman from New Jersey. Tennessee, however, isn’t expected to come out on top in this recruiting battle.
The Tennessee Vols are one of several prominent programs in the mix for 2027 five-star offensive lineman Oluwasemilore Olubobola.
Olubobola, 6-foot-6/295 pounds from Jersey City, NJ, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No 2 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of New Jersey. He’s also rated as the No. 15 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
Unfortunately for the Vols, it appears that Olubobola is trending away from Tennessee.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted on Thursday that Notre Dame will win the battle for Olubobola.
“After continuing to talk to sources, I’ve moved my pick from the Aggies to Notre Dame,” wrote Wiltfong. “Conversations have intensified with Olubobola and the Irish since the spring game visit. Meanwhile Miami is zeroing in on other targets and I don’t expect him in the Hurricanes class. We’ll see if LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss or another make a move but right now the Irish are trending.”
Tennessee offered the five-star offensive tackle in January.
The Vols may not end up landing Olubobola out of high school, but the relationship could still pay off down the road if he ever enters the NCAA transfer portal.
