Robert Saleh perfectly describes one Cam Ward quality that makes him the perfect leader for the Tennessee Titans
Robert Saleh and Cam Ward didn’t take long to click for the Tennessee Titans.
NASHVILLE — One of the biggest draws about the Tennessee Titans coaching vacancy this year for Robert Saleh was quarterback Cam Ward. At last week’s voluntary OTAs, the head coach summed up his young passer’s personality.
Ward’s demeanor is one of the many attributes that gives him a chance to succeed in Tennessee.
Cam Ward don’t care
In a good way, I mean.
“[Cam]’s been good, man, said Saleh. “What’s cool about him; he kind of has a—I don’t want to say an ‘I can give two shits’ attitude. But he moves on to the next play if he makes a mistake. If something doesn’t go his way, it’s completely out of its mind and he’s on to next play which I think is a major requirement for any athlete but something he clearly has.”
Ward seems nearly impossible to rattle.
After being drafted by the Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ward’s first season was nightmarish. Tennessee finished their regular season at 3-13 for the second consecutive year. Ward navigated a play-caller change and his head coach being fired all within the first six weeks.
Geno Smith and Ward finished their respective campaigns as the two most sacked quarterbacks in football (55).
Surviving it all, the Titans rookie started in all 17 regular season games. He did sustain a game-ending AC Joint sprain in the team’s finale at Jacksonville. The houlder, however, did not require offseason surgery.
Ward was cleared to resume throwing activities in March.
