Tennessee got one under-the-radar detail right during David Gabriel Georges’ official visit that will matter more than fans realize
The Tennessee Volunteers are hosting 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges on his official visit to Knoxville this weekend, and it looks like he’s been having a great time.
The Tennessee Vols are hosting 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges on his official visit to Rocky Top this weekend, and it looks like it’s going extremely well based on the videos and photos that have emerged on social media.
Gabriel Georges and his family, for example, appeared to be having a great time in Tennessee’s locker room during the visit as the five-star recruit came out dressed in the Vols’ all-black uniform.
Rivals.com’s Chad Simmons said on Saturday that he’s close to making a prediction for Tennessee to land Gabriel Georges based on how the visit has gone so far.
“Two separate sources connected to Tennessee and the recruitment indicated growing confidence that the Vols are in a strong position,” reported Simmons.
The scene from the locker room with Gabriel Georges’ family is obviously a great sign for the Volunteers, but it’s not the most important thing that happened during his visit this weekend.
Tennessee showcased what’s most important to David Gabriel Georges during the visit
While discussing his official visit to Ohio State last weekend, Gabriel Georges commented that seeing the Buckeyes’ weight room and hearing about the strength program was his favorite part of the trip.
“The overall highlight (of the visit) was seeing the weight room, the mentality there and spending time with (Ohio State RBs coach Carlos Locklyn),” said Gabriel Georges to Rivals.
The Vols made sure to showcase the strength program on Saturday.
Gabriel Georges posted a photo on his Instagram story of himself in the Vols’ weight room with Derek Owings, Tennessee’s new director of football sports performance.

It’s no surprise that Gabriel Georges, who already looks like he’s NFL ready, is most interested in the strength program and the weight room.
Owings, who was a key part of Indiana’s national championship run last season (it probably doesn’t happen without him), is one of the top strength coaches in the nation. He’s one of the biggest weapons the Vols have in the battle against Ohio State for Gabriel Georges. And it’s certainly a big positive that Tennessee made sure to make time between photo shoots and fashion shows to show Gabriel Georges what he undoubtedly cares about the most during the visit.
