The Las Vegas Raiders are set to have their rookies report to training camp on Thursday, which is perfect timing considering they just signed Jermod McCoy to his rookie deal.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders have signed rookie cornerback Jermod McCoy to his rookie contract. This comes just one day before rookies report to training camp.
At the start of the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, general manager John Spytek made a bold move by trading up to select Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy. Widely regarded as a first-round talent—and possibly the best cornerback available—McCoy was a high-upside gamble, and a low risk considering it was a fourth-round pick.

Raiders insider Vinnie Bonsignore of the California Post reported McCoy should be available to participate in training camp. McCoy’s knee injury has raised concerns, with some suggesting it could jeopardize his long-term NFL future. While that outcome isn’t certain, the Raiders felt the potential reward outweighed the risk.
Their approach appears deliberate, and according to one insider, the plan is progressing exceptionally well. He participated a bit at mandatory minicamp and OTAs. But, not much more than stretches, catching a few punts, and working with team doctors.
Standing just under 6’1” and weighing 190 pounds, McCoy boasts 31-inch arms and elite speed. He impressed scouts at Tennessee’s Pro Day by running a blistering 4.37-second 40-yard dash and showing readiness to contribute right away. And, based on this cornerback room, that’s something they will need.
When healthy, McCoy displays length, explosiveness, and fluid athleticism, combining excellent ball skills with physicality at the catch point. He’s a strong fit for both press and off coverage as his technique develops. Although he missed the 2025 season and remains relatively inexperienced, his upside is enormous—if things break right, he could become a cornerstone of the Raiders’ defense.
