It didn’t take long after Tennessee landed a commitment from 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges for analysts to begin speculating about whether the Vols will be able to hold on to him.

Gabriel Georges, who committed to Tennessee over Ohio State, won’t be able to officially sign with the Volunteers until the early signing period gets underway in December.

“This battle won’t end with the commitment, as Ohio State figures to keep pushing until the early signing period in December,” wrote The Athletic’s Cameron Teague Robinson shortly after Gabriel Georges made his decision.

VolQuest’s Austin Price, however, doesn’t think Vols fans have anything to worry about.

No one was more plugged into this recruitment than Price, who noted numerous times late last year that Tennessee was in a strong position to land the five-star running back.

“I would not be worried one bit,” said Price on WNML on Thursday when asked about the chances of Gabriel Georges flipping. “I think he’s about as solid as they come. I mean, is it 100 percent? It’s never 100 percent until they sign. But I’d call it about 98.3 percent. I think the kid is really locked in with Tennessee.”

Price’s comments fall in line with what Gabriel Georges’ uncle said to On3’s Chris Low earlier this month.

“We’re not going to go and talk to other teams behind the team’s back that he commits to and be like, ‘Hey, man, if you guys give us a million more, we can rethink this.’ That’s not the way we are, not the way David and his parents are.” 

I’m sure Ohio State will keep swinging, but it sounds like Gabriel Georges is as locked in as possible with Tennessee.
