Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley lays out the blueprint to redemption for Chop Robinson
Miami Dolphins pass rusher Chop Robinson had a tough 2025. What’s the key to a better 2026? His new head coach laid it all out.
Among the many key players for the Miami Dolphins in 2026? Former first-round pass rusher Chop Robinson.
Robinson was a pass-rushing terror for the second half of his rookie campaign in 2024. But the 2025 season, as it was to many members of the Dolphins, was not kind to Robinson. Things didn’t progress as hoped. And Robinson, as a result, now enters this season as a mysterious X-factor. His new head coach, however, has laid out the blueprint for redemption. Jeff Hafley touched on what Robinson needs to do in 2026 during an interview on ‘The Joe Rose Show’ on Wednesday morning.

“I’m excited about Chop. I thought he did a really good job in OTAs. (I) spent a lot of time getting to know him. I talked to him throughout the summer, developed a good relationship with him. He came back, he looks great. He’s about 265 pounds so he’s as big and as strong as he’s ever been. That’s important to me. Guys got to be able to play the run, set edges, they’ve got to be able to stick their face in there and get dirty. And enjoy and embrace that. And then I think what you’ve seen in his flashes of, he’s got an elite get-off. And he needs to be coached and developed so it’s not just his get-off.”

Robinson met with the media after practice on Wednesday and did appear to be fuller in his frame. But the big litmus test for Robinson will come when the pads arrive — will he be able to translate that body transformation into successful reps? Time will tell, but we can now say we know what Jeff Hafley’s looking for.
