Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell received some brutal injury news on Thursday.
Brazzell suffered a knee injury during Carolina Panthers training camp on Wednesday, and he initially received somewhat positive news.
The Athletic’s Joe Person first reported Brazzell sustained a moderate LCL tear in his left knee and that the former Vol was only expected to miss up to eight weeks.
But unfortunately, Brazzell’s rookie season is over before it even started.
Person reported on Thursday that Brazzell will undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee
“The Panthers initially planned to follow a non-surgical path on Brazzell’s moderate LCL tear, which would have sidelined him for up to two months,” wrote Person. “However, after receiving a second opinion, the team and Brazzell’s representatives decided surgery was the best option for his long-term health, the source said.”
This is devastating news for Brazzell, a player that Carolina was very excited about this season.
Brazzell quickly turned heads in training camp by showing off his elite body control with an incredible catch on the first day of camp, which just increased the excitement surrounding the former Vol.
Brazzell has a long recovery road ahead, but he still has a ton of upside as an NFL wide receiver.
