‘He knows that’ – Deion Sanders drops strong statement about former Tennessee Vols DB Boo Carter
Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Boo Carter landed with the Colorado Buffaloes this offseason.
Former Tennessee defensive back Boo Carter transferred to Colorado in January after he was dismissed from the Vols’ football team last November.
Carter, who spent the first two seasons of his career at Tennessee, was dismissed following a tumultuous offseason in which he missed numerous team activities.
Things didn’t work out between Carter and Tennessee, but the Chattanooga native has undeniable talent.
And Colorado head coach Deion Sanders thinks that talent will get Carter drafted in the first round in the next year or two.
“I’m gonna tell you something — that kid right there is gonna be a first rounder,” said Sanders of Carter. “Either this year or next year — whichever one he chooses. I want to keep him.
“I love him for who he is and who he’s trying to become. That’s what I love about him. He’s trying now.”
Sanders said earlier this offseason that he plans to use Carter at outside cornerback this fall.
“Boo is going to play corner,” said Sanders on Thee Pregame Show in May. “That’s what I see. That’s what I want right now, because I think he deserves it. I don’t see them call too many slots in the first round, and that guy deserves to be that kind of guy. So, we’re gonna put him in that light, and he’s gonna shine.”
Carter isn’t the most popular player in Knoxville after the way his time ended at Tennessee. And look, he certainly made some mistakes, but it’s good to hear that he’s trying to get back on track. Carter undoubtedly has NFL talent. And I hope he makes the most of that talent and makes it to the next level. I can’t imagine rooting against the kid just because things didn’t work out on Rocky Top.
After all, we’ve all had some missteps in life. It’s part of learning, growing, and developing.
