Rechsteiner has been suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2026 regular season. He is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games, but his
suspension will take effect when final cuts bring rosters to 53 players around the league.
Who is Brock Rechsteiner?
New Orleans signed Rechsteiner as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. He played three seasons of college football for Jacksonville State (2023-25), hauling in 53 receptions for 629 yards, and seven touchdowns.
His father, Scott Rechsteiner, who wrestled under the aliases “Scott Steiner” and “Big Poppa Pump”, is a former wrestling champion and WWE Hall of Famer. His cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner, currently wrestles in the WWE as Bron Breakker.
Rechsteiner’s suspension currently does not have a known reason
It’s unclear why Rechsteiner is suspended for the first six games of his rookie season, but this news certainly doesn’t help his prospects of making the team. The Saints are unlikely to use a roster spot on a player that they cannot play for the first month and a half, especially one who has so much to prove as a rookie UDFA.
For this reason alone, Rechsteiner is facing an uncertain future. A roster longshot who is now in trouble with the league before he even took the field for an exhibition has nothing but an uphill climb ahead of him.
At the very least, Rechsteiner can continue developing with NOLA during the remainder of training camp and his first-ever preseason. He can use the next three weeks to build his case to make the practice squad, or catch on with another team’s practice squad.
It’s certainly been a rough week for the Saints as they lost defensive tackle Bryan Bresee to a season-ending knee injury, and then faced the abrupt retirement of WR Ja’Lynn Polk. They still have 11 roster receivers who are eligible to play at the start of the year.
