‘The good Lord made him differently’—The Miami Dolphins’ excitement about one rookie’s return to action is undeniable
Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is as excited as the rest of us to see Chris Bell.
This Miami Dolphins‘ wide receiver room is young. Inexperienced. But also intriguing.
And it’s about to get even more interesting. Third-round rookie wide receiver Chris Bell is building up for clearance from a late 2025 ACL injury. And the man responsible for bringing Bell to South Florida, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, sounds as excited as the rest of us to see him join Miami’s pass-catching core. Sullivan joined ‘The Joe Rose Show’ on Monday morning and shared his latest update on Bell’s pending return to action.
‘The good Lord made him differently than he made most’ — Miami Dolphins WR Chris Bell is getting close
“Chris, I will say he’s ahead of schedule. I’m not here to put a timetable on it because I don’t think it’s fair to the kid. He’s working extremely hard. I can’t say enough good things about Kyle Johnson and his staff and what they’ve done to get him to where he is today. We’re excited about him. I think that goes without saying.
The good Lord made him differently than he made most and that has helped him along in his rehab, too. He’s just a little bit of a freak that way…obviously, we want him out there as soon as possible, but this is long-term big picture thinking in terms of getting him back out there because we expect him to be a really good player for this offense for years to come. So, I’d rather be a week too late than a week too early.”
— Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan on rookie WR Chris Bell
If you want a killer soundbite on Bell as a physical talent, Sullivan just gave it to you. The challenge for Bell is going to be integrating himself into an offensive unit that’s been working, literally, for months without him. By the time Bell and the rest of the rookies joined the fray in Miami in May, they immediately went to work with OTAs and minicamp. The offseason program started in early April, too.
Stack all of that time on top of summer throwing sessions with QB Malik Willis and the first two weeks (and counting) of training camp?
That’s a lot of sweat equity lost to rehab. But the good news for Chris Bell is this: the good Lord made him differently. And the Dolphins are as excited to see him out there as we are. Just remember, though: patience is a virtue.
