There’s no question about it. Injuries are the worst part of the game of football. But for the New York Jets on Tuesday, things took an even more scary turn than normal.

Reports out of joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just around noon had an ambulance on the field with EMTs providing attention to someone on the Jets’ sideline. It turns out the person needing attention was cornerback Quan’tez Stiggers. But, thanks to a post-practice update from head coach Aaron Glenn, it sounds like the worst possible outcomes have been avoided.

New York Jets cornerback Quan’tez Stiggers taken off practice field in an ambulance

“Quan’tez Stiggers, from what I know, he came to the sideline after a play and he actually fell out. The good thing is, he was conscious. And our guys did a hell of a job, just like medical staffs around this league do in situations like that. They took the necessary steps, just to make sure that we do everything we can to be on board when it comes to those situations. He was able to talk, and I want to make sure that I go and see him after this, just to make sure I’m good with everything. But for the most part, he was good.”

To fill in the blanks on what ultimately ailed Stiggers would be irresponsible. But any time you require medical attention on the sideline and the ambulance comes out, it’s easy to imagine the worst. Thankfully, it sounds like the worst was avoided here for the Jets cornerback. And, hopefully, the attention he received promptly on the field will have him back to 100% sooner rather than later.
