One of the Buffalo Bills’ offseason additions is in danger of not making the team out of training camp.

Buffalo signed linebacker Mike Danna to a one-year deal in May, and the team guaranteed him over $1 million, but The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia predicted on Friday that the two-time Super Bowl champion won’t make the Bills’ 53-man roster.

“Mike Danna, an early May signing, has over $1 million guaranteed on his one-year deal, but he’s faded into the background of the outside linebacker group,” wrote Buscaglia. “With investments in (Michael) Hoecht and (TJ) Parker a roster lock, and (Javon) Solomon as one of their best special teams assets, I’ve got Danna on the outside of this projection.”

Danna spent the first six seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs before signing with the Bills earlier this offseason.

The former Michigan standout had the best season of his career in 2023 when he totaled 50 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and seven tackles for loss.

Danna, however, saw his production shrink dramatically last season, totaling just 25 tackles and one sack while playing in 15 games (with 14 starts).

The Detroit native turns 29 in December, so he should still have plenty left in the tank, but it sounds like he has some work to do if he’s going to return to his 2023 form.

As for his future in Buffalo, Danna may be out of luck unless there’s an injury during preseason action that clears his path to a roster spot.
