It’s going to be a crazy scene in Knoxville on Saturday when the Texas Longhorns make their first-ever trip to Neyland Stadium for a big game against the Tennessee Vols.

ESPN’s College GameDay will be in town, Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler will be in the booth, and a who’s who of well-known fans and big-time recruits are expected to attend the game.

Naturally, everyone has an opinion on the game, including former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops.

Stoops, who won a national championship at Oklahoma with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel as his quarterback, made his prediction for the game this week on his YouTube channel.

“I’m going to go with Josh Heupel and Tennessee,” said Stoops. “With it being at Tennessee, they’ll be charged up for this game, so that’s exciting. Texas is coming off a big game (two weeks ago against Ohio State), and they’ve got Oklahoma here in a few weeks, so it may be the right spot for Tennessee to win.

“And let’s face it, Texas, in the first half (against Ohio State), they didn’t look good. So we’ll see how they do, but I like Tennessee at home with that crowd.”

One of the biggest wins of Bob Stoops’ career came in 2000 when Oklahoma beat Texas 63-14 in Dallas.

Heupel passed for 275 yards and a touchdown in the win (Chris Simms and Major Applewhite were the quarterbacks for Texas that day).

Interestingly, Oklahoma’s win against Texas in 2000 was a noon game, just like the Vols’ matchup against the Longhorns will be this Saturday.
