Grading the signings: Eagles add tenured Pro Bowler at position of need after reuniting with legendary tight end Zach Ertz
Howie Roseman bolstered the Eagles’ roster with two proven veterans in two days, and the latest signing fills a gap that has been evident through the first 2 weeks of the season.
The Philadelphia Eagles weren’t done after bringing back tight end Zach Ertz in a move you could see coming. One day after signing the franchise legend to the practice squad following the Dallas Goedert injury, Howie Roseman and the Eagles made another move that could pay dividends for this roster going forward.
As reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Eagles signed former Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore. Moore, who is 31 years old, spent his entire career with the Indianapolis Colts before being released after the 2026 NFL Draft. He carries a Pro Bowl on his resume, and more importantly, he fills a legitimate need in Philadelphia.
Kenny Moore brings a defined role to the Eagles defense
Moore is not going to play outside corner. He never really has. He’s always been a slot corner, and Vic Fangio and the Eagles are not trying to change that. Moore will play mostly nickel and safety for the Eagles, and if you’ve watched the first couple of weeks, you know that area of the depth chart isn’t exactly a strength in Philadelphia.
So the fit makes sense. Moore knows what he is, the coaching staff knows what he is, and they’re deploying him in a role where he can contribute right away.

Pair this with the return of Ertz, which I would grade out as an A, and then add on Kenny Moore, another proven veteran, and you’re talking about very low-risk, potentially high-reward additions loaded with veteran leadership. You know what you’re going to get from both of these guys. They are professionals with high-character reputations, the kind of locker room teammates that coaches trust immediately.
The bottom line is that these are great moves from Roseman. Bolstering the roster in Week 2 going into Week 3 with impact players off the open market is not easy, and finding difference-makers at this point of the calendar is no simple task. I think it’s safe to say that Roseman did just that with both of these signings, so he earns an A+.
