The Las Vegas Raiders have to be thinking they made the right decision to hire Klint Kubiak as their head coach.
The Las Vegas Raiders may have finally gotten their head coaching hire right. We all know this franchise’s story. They have been through what feels like 100 head coaches over the last five years. That trend could be changing with Klint Kubiak.
The guy has already won two games in two weeks. Last season, Pete Carroll won just three games in 17. Now, granted, the roster is different. But three games is atrocious when you told the media you win ten games every year. Kubiak has this team playing right. And he has established a culture. There hasn’t been that in who knows how long. We are already seeing the difference, too. Kubiak’s already breaking records and getting his name in the book.

With a 26-14 win over the Chargers, the Raiders are now 2-0 to start the 2026 season, their first 2-0 start since 2021. According to the Raiders PR team, Kubiak is now just the fourth head coach in Raiders history (excluding interims) to win both of their first 2 games with the team, joining Al Davis (1963), John Madden (1969), and Bill Callahan (2002).
Now, no one is saying he’s going to be any of those guys. Those three coaches are some of the best two ever, especially Madden. However, Kubiak has some similar traits. He fits what it means to be a Raiders head coach perfectly. Now the question becomes: how far can he take this thing?
No one is also saying he has to make the playoffs and even win a postseason game in year one. That would be amazing, and who knows, it may be very realistic. But right now, the expectation is that this team looks like a good football team and tries to double last season’s win total. To do that, they only need four more wins. This now feels extremely doable.
