Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides 4 key injury updates ahead of practice for Week 3 vs. the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday
Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid gave all the latest injury updates on LT Josh Simmons (back), SS Chamarri Conner (knee), CB Mansoor Delane (shoulder), and DT Omarr Norman-Lott (knee).
Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid gave all the latest injury updates ahead of practice on Wednesday.
He started with some updates on LT Josh Simmons (back) and SS Chamarri Conner (knee), who have missed the first two weeks of the 2026 NFL season due to injury. One of those two players is set to return to practice on Wednesday.
“As far as the guys that won’t practice, Josh (Simmons) won’t practice today,” Reid said. “He is getting better, but he won’t go today. Chamarri (Conner)’s gonna do some stuff. We’re gonna ease him back into the mix.”
Conner has been out since training camp due to swelling in his knee. Expect a limited practice for him on Wednesday. If that goes well, the team could increase him to full participation as early as Thursday. They just have to see how the knee responds.
Reid also had updates on CB Mansoor Delane (shoulder) and DT Omarr Norman-Lott (knee).
Mansoor Delane is expected to be full go for Week 3 vs. the Dolphins
Asked whether Delane would be a full go for Week 3, Coach Reid suggested the No. 6 overall pick is trending upward.
“I think so,” Reid said. “Yeah, just again we’ll play it by ear, but right now I tell you, yes.”
Delane, of course, was active for the Week 2 game against the Colts, but did not play. Chiefs HC Andy Reid indicated he was on the cusp of playing. He said that the team didn’t want him playing a full game in Week 2. That could change in Week 3, as long as there are no setbacks in practice.
Chiefs second-year DT Omarr Norman-Lott will potentially return after the Week 5 bye
The Chiefs’ second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Omarr Norman-Lott, hasn’t played since Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season. He suffered an ACL tear in that game and has been working his way back from injury ever since. Norman-Lott landed on the Reserve/PUP list after 53-man roster cuts, following a full training camp on the Active/PUP list. He’s eligible to return to practice starting this week, but it sounds like the team isn’t targeting a return until after the Week 5 bye week.
“Yes, potentially,” Reid said. “Yeah, yeah. We’ll see where he’s at. He’s doing more right now, so which is a positive.”
This is the first big update that Coach Reid has provided on a potential timeline for the second-year defender’s return. Norman-Lott recorded 5 total tackles, a sack, and a QB hit in 2025.
There’s some roster math to consider here, too. Chiefs currently have four defensive tackles on the 53-man roster: Chris Jones, Khyiris Tonga, Peter Woods, and Bryson Eason.
Eason has been a healthy scratch for the past two weeks as he gets up to speed, and the team has elevated Marcus Harris from the practice squad each week.
