President Donald Trump attending the Texas vs Tennessee game will impact both the Vols and the Longhorns in an unexpected way
President Donald Trump is planning to attend the big game between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Texas Longhorns this weekend.
President Donald Trump is expected to be in attendance for Saturday’s game between the Tennessee Vols and Texas Longhorns in Knoxville.
Trump’s attendance means increased security measures will be in place. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the game as a result.
The added security, however, won’t be the only way the game is impacted.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian revealed on Thursday that both teams will have communications cut any time the president changes locations in the stadium.
“Anytime the President changes locations within the stadium, they cut all communication,” said Sarkisian. “They cut your headsets in terms of coach to player communication. So you have to plan for that.”
This is an added element that both teams will need to prepare for. Neither sideline will have any idea when Trump may move locations, so they’ll need to be prepared to call plays at any time without the assistance of sideline communication.
