Jeff Hafley just confirmed our biggest suspicion for the Miami Dolphins’ Week 3 contest with his latest press conference
The Miami Dolphins will suit up at home for the first time and play the Kansas City Chiefs, but do so without one of their most dynamic rookies.
And that’s that. If you’ve spent this week tracking the Miami Dolphins’ injury report, consider your worst fear for Week 3 officially confirmed. Head coach Jeff Hafley just finished his final press conference of the week and in the process answered a salvo of questions about injuries.
Most players will practice today for a chance to suit up against the Chiefs. Rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas will not be among them. He’s out in Week 3.
Miami Dolphins rookie receiver Caleb Douglas is officially out for Week 3 against the Chiefs

Douglas, who was caught from behind by a San Francisco 49er while blocking for tight end Greg Dulcich in Week 2, is officially out, per Hafley. The fact that Douglas was not placed on a reserve this this week would seem like a promising omen that this isn’t a longer-term issue, but it will cost Douglas his first home game with the franchise.
It didn’t take Douglas long to flash and show his potential throughout the course of training camp. He quickly went from “surprising third-round pick” to the Dolphins’ most consistent standout in the wide receiver room.
As Miami looks to pick up the pieces this week? Fellow rookies Chris Bell and Kevin Coleman Jr. will presumably shoulder a larger portion of snaps. Ryan Miller, who caught a 77-yard strike from QB Malik Willis late against the 49ers, could be in line to seize that role, too. Miller is the player with the skill set that seems to mirror Douglas the most. The Dolphins are going to have to try to take this development in stride. Their best opportunity to do so? That may ultimately be the same answer as it is most weeks.
Pound the rock.
