Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian left no doubt on how he felt about the crowd at Neyland Stadium during the Longhorns’ win against Tennessee
The Texas Longhorns beat the Tennessee Volunteers last Saturday in front of a sold out crowd at Neyland Stadium.
A lot of Tennessee fans weren’t happy earlier this summer when they learned that the Vols’ home game against Texas was set for a noon kickoff.
But Tennessee fans, in true Volunteer fashion, rose to the occasion and created an incredible atmosphere for the noon kickoff.
Most fans were in their seats an hour before kickoff — creating an amazing scene for the final hour of ESPN’s College GameDay.
“It was pretty special. … It was just a completely different vibe than I had ever felt at Neyland Stadium before,” said Voice of the Vols Mike Keith on WNML’s SportsTalk on Monday. “And it was like everybody had this Christmas morning sense of anticipation by being there early and being ready to go.”

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian met with reporters on Monday to review the Longhorns’ 20-17 win over the Vols, and he pointed out how impressed he was with the crowd at Neyland Stadium.
Sarkisian specifically noted that he’s never been in a game before where all of the opposing fans were in their seats for pregame warmups.
“I’ve never been to a game where opposing fans were all in their seats by the time we took pregame warmups,” said Sarkisian.
“That was a different environment. And credit to Tennessee, they did a heck of a job of creating that environment and all that came with it. Air Force One flying overhead, all of the things. So I think that was a really cool way to start.”
We say it all the time, but there really is nothing quite like Vol nation. And that’s not to take away from other fan bases, but Tennessee’s fans are truly special. It’s a passion that’s hard to describe, but you know it when you see it.
