‘We recognize it’s not good’ – Sean Payton addresses the elephant in the room ahead of Broncos’ game against the 49ers

The Denver Broncos are 2-1 through the first three games of the season, but that doesn’t mean Sean Payton is happy.
Payton, in fact, pointed out something on Wednesday that he thinks “has to improve” moving forward.
The longtime head coach noted that the Broncos’ first half scoring has to get better.
Denver has scored 60 points this season. 10 of those points have come in the first half.
“We certainly recognize it’s not good,” said Payton when asked about first half scoring. “But that has to improve. And it’s not just me up here talking. It’s in the beginning periods of practice — the opening sequence, both offensively and defensively.”
Payton added that the first half offensive struggles have been mostly due to an inability to run the ball.
Denver has played well in the second half of games this season, but they can’t always count on that being the case. The Broncos can’t keep burying themselves in a hole early.
We’ll see how the team responds against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon.
The 49ers have allowed just one touchdown in the first half so far this season.
