Alabama has a major injury concern heading into matchup against Tennessee
The Alabama Crimson Tide will travel to Knoxville next weekend for a huge SEC showdown against the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Tennessee Vols will host the Alabama Crimson Tide next weekend in Knoxville in a game that’s very important for both teams.
Whichever team wins this game will be in the driver’s seat for a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. The loser will likely need to win out the rest of the season to earn a spot in the tournament.
Tennessee has won the last two matchups in Knoxville against Alabama.
Alabama has a big injury concern for the Tennessee game
We’ll know more as the week goes along, but for now, it’s unclear if Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams will be available for the Tennessee game.
Coleman-Williams suffered multiple injuries in Alabama’s loss to Georgia. The junior wide receiver left the game with a knee injury but eventually returned.
The bigger concern is the head injury that Coleman-Williams suffered later in the game.
Coleman-Williams didn’t return to the game after that hit.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed after the game that Coleman-Williams is dealing with a head injury.
Reading between the lines, it’s fair to assume that this is a concussion protocol situation. So again, we’ll see what information is released this week on the talented wide receiver, but his status for the Tennessee game, at least at this point, is suddenly in doubt.
Coleman-Williams had been struggling with drops early in the season (an issue that carried over from last year), but he’d been playing well as of late. Not having him on the field would certainly be a big loss for the Crimson Tide.
