Father of Tennessee player has a strong message for a portion of the Vols’ fanbase after win over Arkansas
Tennessee got the win in Fayetteville, and one individual thinks Vol fans need to focus on that simple fact.
Tennessee found a way to win on Saturday in Fayetteville, defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks 24-17.
It wasn’t pretty at times, with Tennessee blowing a golden opportunity to take control of the game in the second quarter with a fumble by George MacIntyre squandering a shot at points before the half. Arkansas went on two touchdown drives, and suddenly the 13.5-point favorite Vols had to play catch up.
And catch up and go ahead they did. Tennessee got a big play in the passing game from MacIntyre to DaSaahn Brame for 68 yards to set up a go-ahead touchdown, and DeSean Bishop ripped off a 58-yard run to set up the winning touchdown.
On a day where a number of ranked teams suffered notable losses, Tennessee managed to avoid adding to that total. And Brian Staley, the father of Tennessee wide receive Braylon Staley, had a message on Twitter (X) to a portion of the fanbase on Sunday morning.
Brian Staley, father of Tennessee WR Braylon Staley, has a message to those who are ‘still pouting’ about the Vols’ win over Arkansas
“Good morning,” Staley said. “To everyone that woke up this morning still pouting, Vols won. Go Vols.”
He makes a great point. As we’re seeing this year, it’s difficult to win in the SEC. Texas, LSU, and Florida, all ranked in the top 16, lost to unranked Oklahoma, Kentucky, and South Carolina, respectively (although Kentucky will surely be ranked on Sunday). Anything can happen, and while you can hope for better play โ and Tennessee needs to be better offensively moving forward โ you can celebrate the win without pouting too much about the performance.
To any Vol fans not happy with the result, just look around college football on Saturday. It could have been much, much worse for the Big Orange on Saturday in northwest Arkansas.
