The Miami Dolphins may have found their first gem through their roster churn this season after a Week 5 cameo
The Miami Dolphins experienced their first service interruption along the offensive line in Week 5. The next man up played, well, like the next man up.
One of the most promising developments for this young Miami Dolphins team this season? The time on task spent together along the offensive line. The Dolphins saw the same combination of five players start in each of the team’s first five games, with the nucleus of Patrick Paul, Kadyn Proctor, Aaron Brewer, and Jonah Savaiinaea all looking like long-term starters.
But then, in the first half of Week 5, adversity struck for the first time. Savaiinaea ended up on the ground, grabbing at his lower leg after a Malik Willis interception. But in a pleasant surprise, the next man up certainly held his own. Jarrett Kingston, who was a waiver claim this summer, helped keep Miami’s run game humming.
The Miami Dolphins may have unearthed a gem in offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston

Ollie Gordon and the rest of the Miami Dolphins’ rushing attack had their best day of the season against Cincinnati. And 165 of the team’s rushing yards came with Jarrett Kingston on the field at right guard. That isn’t to say his individual executions didn’t need refinement — nor that he was the catalyst for the success on the ground. But he was a viable cog in the proverbial wheel. That’s not to be overlooked, especially for a player who only got to South Florida six weeks ago.
Whether or not Kingston will be needed to start games when the Dolphins get back from their upcoming bye week is yet to be determined. But given the offensive line depth concerns that existed for Miami all offseason, getting Kingston’s feet wet without smothering the running game is a nice turn of events.
What’s more? Miami is very much in the market for finding players that they can count on long-term. That obviously includes starters, but it also includes role players. Kingston doesn’t have an obvious place to start long-term here in Miami. But he’s a restricted free agent this offseason who Miami will have control of in 2027, too. Every little thing counts as a win at this point, so let’s go ahead and chalk this one up as a one for the first month of the season.
