A newly surfaced document reveals just how ugly things allegedly got behind the scenes during Brian Flores’ Miami Dolphins tenure

The Miami Dolphins are on to their second head coach since moving on from Brian Flores, but the story refuses to run out of steam as Flores litigates against the NFL.

The page has long been turned between the Miami Dolphins and former head coach Brian Flores. The two parties crossed paths just a few weeks ago, too. Flores’ Minnesota defense held Miami to just 10 points in a 15-10 Vikings win in Week 4.

But even as the two parties drift further apart, there’s still one thing that is keeping them tethered together. At least for now. And that would be Flores’ ongoing suit against the NFL for discriminatory issues and hiring practices. A new revelation in the suit has been made — and it brings with it a few nuggets about just how trying the Brian Flores/Miami Dolphins era was in South Florida.

Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores adds new document to complaint against the team — which features some explosive nuggets

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk posted some of the snippets from a Korn Ferry search firm document. Flores has added it to his complaint against the Dolphins franchise. The search firm document, assembled by Korn Ferry, outlines the pros and cons of Flores as a potential head coach candidate. Among the details? Insight from individuals who were presumably with the Dolphins franchise during Flores’ run with the team.

What was uncovered about Flores’ tenure with the team inside underscores one thing. This franchise was wading through all of the dysfunction.

“Needs someone strong at the top to reign [sic] in some of his worst behavior. He once threatened violence to his GM and made irrational demands during an ownership meeting. One long-time senior team executive said, ‘He may have changed since, but he was the worst hiring decision we’ve ever made.’”

Flores’ inclusion of the document in the complaint seems to be tied to whether the “worst hiring decision” comment was retaliatory or not against Flores for how his run ended in Miami. Although if the tidbit about threatening violence to (then GM) Chris Grier is true? I don’t personally believe such a statement is an unreasonable one to make. Ultimately, the judicial process will decide relevance. And, in the meantime, it may be safe to assume this won’t be the last ‘behind the curtain’ nugget to be uncovered as due process plays itself out.
