Miami Hurricanes 5-star commit A’Mir Sears already recruiting elite 2028 WR Brysen Wright with 2-word message
The Canes are already doing good work on a top playmaker in the 2028 class, and now they’re getting some help.
The Miami Hurricanes capped off a tremendous year on the 2027 recruiting trail with the commitment of 5-star athlete A’Mir Sears on Friday. A two-way threat, Sears is the top-ranked athlete in the class. His addition puts a huge cherry on top of what could be a strong foundation for a bright future under coach Mario Cristobal.
But it did not take long for Sears to start trying to help Miami build towards a strong 2028. Following Sears’ commitment, Jacksonville Mandarin 2028 5-star WR Brysen Wright posted an image of Sears’ commitment on his Instagram. Sears commented with two words: “you next”.
Great players want to play with other great players, and that certainly appears to be the case with Sears wanting Wright to join him in Coral Gables. Miami already holds an early edge with the 2028 standout. Wright made a surprise visit to Miami back in June, and they are considered one of his early frontrunners according to recruiting insiders.
Sears’ commitment could give Cristobal another advantage with Wright
Adding a player of Sears’ caliber to the 2027 class could serve as yet another advantage for Cristobal as he pushes for what would be one of the biggest early pickups in all of 2028 college football recruiting. A 5-star commit actively recruiting on your behalf carries weight beyond a typical coaching pitch, and that dynamic is now working in Miami’s favor.
The Hurricanes have built real momentum on the trail under Cristobal, and Sears’ willingness to immediately turn around and recruit Wright speaks to the culture the staff is establishing. That kind of player-driven energy is difficult to manufacture, and it gives Miami a built-in recruiting edge baked into the program itself.
We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks and months and whether the Hurricanes can get Wright back on campus for another visit. But the early signs point in a promising direction for Cristobal, who now has both his staff and his future players pulling in the same direction on the recruiting front.
