There was Hurricane on Hurricane — and brother on brother — crime between the Giants and Jets, and it ended in smiles
The two former Miami teammates got a chance to clash in the final preseason game for the New York teams.
The Miami Hurricanes have been seeing more and more of their players land on NFL rosters during the program’s rise under head coach Mario Cristobal. Never has that been more evident in April, when the Hurricanes had three players drafted in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, with nine drafted overall.
The highest of those picks is OL Francis Mauigoa, who was selected at No. 10 overall by the New York Giants. A road grader for the Hurricanes, Mauigoa will start immediately at right guard as a rookie for the G-Men this year.
That run blocking ability was on full display on Friday night in the Giants’ final preseason game against the New York Jets. And it also came at the expense of former Miami teammate and, well, current actual brother Francisco “Kiko” Mauigoa, who was drafted by the Jets in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

On Tyrone Tracy, Jr.’s six-yard touchdown run, Francis got up the field and put a block on Francisco, it sprung Tracy to break through and bowl across the goal line for a touchdown.
That’s certainly not something you see every day at any level of football, but particularly at the NFL level. We’ve see famous brothers plenty of times before, including Jason and Travis Kelce, Trevon and Stefon Diggs, and J.J., T.J. and Derek Watt, among others, but it’s even more rare when they get the chance to get their hands on each other on the field.
That being said, it was all smiles after the game, when the two greeted each other and swapped jerseys.
The Giants and Jets don’t square off in the regular season, so this will surely be the brothers’ only time this year locking up on the field. But it’s a moment that neither will likely forget any time soon.
