The Oklahoma Sooners are hosting 2028 quarterback Graham Simpson for a visit on Thursday, and he happens to be the brother of a former first-round pick. Yes, the name does probably give it away—he’s the younger brother of former Alabama QB Ty Simpson.

Graham Simpson, a 6’0”, 175-pound sophomore quarterback from Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee. In 2024, he led Westview to a 14-1 record and the TSSAA Class 3A state championship game, earning MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year.

His best game was a 59-54 win over Covington, where he set a TSSAA record with 620 passing yards and eight touchdown passes, breaking his own school record of seven from the season opener. All that was as a freshman. He’s only gotten better since and is now a four-star quarterback.

He led the Westview Chargers to a perfect regular season. Simpson threw for nearly 2,900 yards, and earned Tennessee Mr. Football Class 3A finalist honors. Simpson also threw for 33 touchdowns and 2 interceptions during the regular season, completing 75.6% of his passes.

He set multiple TSSAA BlueCross Bowl state championship game records. One of those was 566 passing yards and 7 touchdown passes in the Class 3A state final. Both of those are records for the title game. He also tied the state mark for touchdowns in a title game. Simpson added a 26-yard rushing touchdown and executed a 99-yard playoff touchdown, the longest in championship history.

Sooners have other offers for quarterbacks in the 2028 recruiting class, and competition for Graham Simpson

Simpson’s poise and accuracy have drawn interest from major colleges. He has offers from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Duke, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Syracuse. His father, Jason, UT Martin’s head coach, helps Simpson be able to train at UT Martin’s facilities. He’s already got the makings of a potentially elite quarterback.

Sooners QB coach John Kuceyeski has issued offers to what could be his next quarterback, as Bowe Bentley and Jameson Roberts patiently await their turn.

The Sooners offered Brady Quinn, a highly-regarded QB recruit in the 2028 cycle. The Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna QB already has some very transferable tools and, by the time he gets to college, could have some elite arm talent. Quinn is now one of three quarterbacks in the 2028 cycle who hold an Oklahoma offer, alongside Simpson and Trey Tagliaferri.

Tagliaferri is also a bit of a dual-threat quarterback. He can run the ball and throw well outside the pocket. All of these quarterbacks pretty much do the same thing and play the same way. Ben Arbuckle definitely has a type, as you can see with John Mateer and the other guys committed and on the current roster.
