The Texas Longhorns are recruiting the son of a former four-time All-Pro linebacker, but they aren’t recruiting him to play football in Austin.
The Texas Longhorns are hoping to land the son of a former NFL linebacker who was a four-time first-team All-Pro.
But Texas isn’t pursuing him to play football.
Texas is recruiting the son of former NFL linebacker NaVorro Bowman
The Longhorns are one of several teams in the mix for 2027 four-star point guard NaVorro Bowman Jr, the son of former NFL linebacker NaVorro Bowman.
The older Bowman played eight seasons in the NFL after a standout career with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, Illinois, and Penn State are also in the mix for the talented point guard.
“They talked to me a lot earlier in the year, and they’ve been keeping in touch,” said Bowman Jr to On3 of his interest in the Longhorns. “They had a good year this year, made a little run in March Madness. I’m excited about picking things back up with them.”
The four-star point guard also told On3 that playing as a freshman will be an important factor in his eventual decision.
“I want to come straight in as a freshman and play, and I’ll look at their plan for getting me to my main goal,” said Bowman Jr.
Bowman Jr plays high school basketball in California, so the west coast schools could be the ones to watch in this battle.
