The biggest star these days when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys is Micah Parsons. Lately, he’s been in the headlines a bunch from leading the NFL in jersey sales for October to recruiting free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
At the midpoint of the season, the NFL on FOX handed out its awards for the league’s top performers, voted on by the fans. Parsons was selected as the midseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Parsons has certainly performed for the Cowboys on a level to be recognized in this way. Last season’s Defensive Rookie of the Year has amassed eight sacks (third-most in the NFL) in eight games for the Cowboys as well as nine quarterback hits, 22 hurries, and 39 pressures.
The Cowboys’ defensive leader was in the running for DPOY in 2021 before T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers won it. Parsons came into the season as the front-runner to win the award, however, he feels there’s more work to be done, according to his Twitter response.
Mhmmm job not done! https://t.co/hm54Ur1pEQ— Micah Parsons (@MicahhParsons11) November 10, 2022
Parsons has another opportunity to add to his excellent season on Sunday against a struggling Green Bay Packers offense. He’s had multiple sacks four times in 2022, so if he brings down Aaron Rodgers once, history says it won’t be the last.
