The Dallas Cowboys enter the 2022 season with multiple question marks.
One of the questions surrounding the team centers around wide receiver. With Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson out the door, the position is in a flux. CeeDee Lamb, while talented, has been forced to step into a larger role in his third NFL season.
Furthermore, there is concern about when Michael Gallup will be fully healthy. The Cowboys have been quiet about the veteran pass catcher as he rehabs from a torn ACL. It appears safe to assume that he will miss the beginning of the season.
The injury and hole out wide has created an opportunity on the Dallas Cowboys. A first-year pass catcher looks primed to be the one to take advantage of said opportunity.
Why Jalen Tolbert is primed for big role
Jalen Tolbert was drafted in the third-round of the 2022 NFL Draft — the same round that Gallup was selected. He was regarded as a borderline top-50 player in the class and is expected to have a key role with Dallas early.
Tolbert was an all-conference performer at South Alabama after choosing his hometown school over multiple power five programs. He is used to being the focus of defensive game plans, which should only help him make the transition to the professional level.
The rookie wideout has a chance to make an impact early on in his rookie season while Gallup is sidelined. Therefore, look for him to be a real weapon for Dak Prescott and the passing attack. That could have implications on the field and in the fantasy football world.

He earned a Top-5% target share of all-time in college.
Dalton Schultz will also benefit…
He was 2nd on Dallas with 104 targets last season.
CeeDee Lamb and Dalton Schultz have established roles within the offense. Tolbert will be competing with free agent pickup James Washington and second-year receiver Simi Fehoko for targets.
The odds are there for Tolbert to emerge as a threat out wide for the Dallas Cowboys until Michael Gallup returns to action. Jalen Tolbert looks primed to take advantage of a significant role early in the 2022 season.
