Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Jalen Tolbert will be counted on in a big way in 2022. The first-year wideout is stepping into a key role right out of the gate.

Wide receiver is a position filled with question marks with preseason action beginning this weekend for America’s Team. You know what to expect from third-year standout CeeDee Lamb. Behind him, though? That remains to be seen.

Tolbert has flashed in training camp with the Cowboys. The third-round draft pick has had some growing pains, but it is clear that Dak Prescott is beginning to trust him. That connection will be important when the regular season kicks off.

Tolbert is “growing every day.”

Michael Gallup and James Washington are sidelined with injury in training camp. That has opened the door for Tolbert to make an impression in practice, and the former South Alabama standout is making the most of the opportunities that have been presented to him.

“We come out and compete every day. We work to get better with each other and against each other,” Tolbert told Skywalker Steele of AtoZ Sports. “If I mess something up (in practice), we review the film and come out here and try to perfect it the next day. I’m growing every day.”

In addition to Gallup and Washington not being available, the Cowboys must also replace the production left behind by Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson. Tolbert knows that he must earn the role that is there for the taking.

“It’s an exciting experience to know that I can come in and help and be an impact for the team. (I need to) earn The Star and that role on the team,” said Tolbert.

Jalen Tolbert has the chance to make his presence felt with the Dallas Cowboys during his first season in the NFL. It sounds like he is ready to do just that.
