The Dallas Cowboys will soon learn its 2022 schedule with the announcement coming from the NFL on Thursday evening. The schedule release is always intriguing, with notable week one matchups to holiday games to primetime showdowns revealed.

What Dallas already knows is the opponents that the team will play in the 2022 season. The Cowboys will obviously play the three NFC East rivals — Eagles, Commanders, and Giants — twice, totaling six games.

Dallas is also set to play a schedule that will feature division winners after the Cowboys earned the NFC East crown last season. Those teams include the Bengals, Buccaneers, Packers, Rams, and Titans.

The remaining opponents include the, Bears, Lions, and Vikings from the NFC North and the Colts, Jaguars, and Texans from the AFC South.

All in all, the Cowboys will be a part of some interesting matchups next season. From Mike McCarthy returning to Green Bay to taking on the Super Bowl champs, there will be no shortage of storylines to follow.

Metric suggests successful season for Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys will play likely playoff teams such as the Bengals, Bucs, Packers, and Rams next season. That group of teams all provide stiff competition for the Cowboys — largely thanks to the quality of quarterbacks that the other team features.

Dak Prescott is an established quarterback in his own right and is set to have a strong campaign next season. However, going up against the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady is never fun.

Despite some of the strong quarterback play that the Cowboys will face, this metric indicates that Dallas has the easiest strength of schedule for the 2022 season. That is based on the opponents, since the actual schedule has not yet been revealed.

The metric takes into account the opponent win-percentage that each team is set to face next season. Sitting at the top of the list are the defending Super Bowl champions.

Interestingly enough, the bottom four teams all hail from the NFC East.

Different metric suggests favorable schedule.

Furthermore, there is another strength of schedule formula that points to the Cowboys having a relatively favorable 2022 schedule. This metric is based on betting win totals, which gives some more context.

Even with this context provided, the Dallas Cowboys still fall inside the top-10 in terms of easiest schedules.

There is a lot that goes into strength of schedule and it is way too early to put much stock into it — especially before the schedule is released. Teams improving over the offseason, unfortunate injuries, and even the placement of the bye week all have an impact on the reality of how tough a schedule is.

With that said, the strength of schedule metric points to the Dallas Cowboys having success in 2022.
