The Dallas Cowboys‘ top cornerback, Trevon Diggs, is up to his old tricks again in 2022.

After making consecutive tackles on the Cowboys’ biggest defensive possession late in the fourth quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 that forced a punt and eventually led to a game-winning field goal, Diggs snagged his first interception of the season to seal the Cowboys win over the New York Giants this past Monday.

Diggs now has 15 interceptions in his first 31 career games. He joins former Cowboys cornerback Everson Walls and former Detroit Lions cornerback James Hunter as the only three players in NFL history with that many interceptions over that span.

Walls leads the way with an unreal 21 interceptions in his first 31 games while Diggs and Hunter are tied for second.

Diggs has set himself apart from the other defensive backs taken in 2020. His 15 interceptions since he was drafted are nine more than any other player (Xavier Mckinney), and he’s missed five games.

This latest accolade is just a continuation of what Diggs did a season ago. His 11 interceptions led the league in 2021 and were the most since 1981 when the aforementioned Walls did the same for the Cowboys. Sprinkle in first-team All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl nod, Diggs shined like a diamond in year two.

Diggs made it clear in the offseason that he wanted to improve his game going into his third year. Well, he’s certainly sharpened his skills quite nicely and is keeping the trajectory of his career pointing upward.
