The Dallas Cowboys (3-1) are in the midst of a surprising win streak. This time by way of their arch-rival Washington Commanders.

Offensively, the Cowboys are moving the ball at a solid pace, completing catches and extending drives.

On Defense, they are displaying dominance. Adding pressure to the opposing QB and creating takeaways in a number of ways.

Even without QB Dak Prescott, others are taking notice. Primarily The Athletic. In their most recent power rankings, the Cowboys are inching even closer to the elite of the league. Jumping from 17th to 12th after four weeks.

In the rankings, written by Bo Wulf, explains Dallas’s five-spot jump as “Fierce up front”.

The Cowboys lead the league in pressure rate (41.7 percent, per TruMedia). If you’re inclined to question a subjective measure like that, as we all should be, they have also hit the quarterback on 36 of 157 dropbacks, per TruMedia, good for a league-best 22.9 percent clip. Bob Sturm has more on the Dallas defense.

After things looked dire following Dak Prescott’s Week 1 injury, the Cowboys are all of a sudden loaded with a potentially elite defense and a returning quarterback just in time for a Week 6 showdown in Philadelphia with big division implications.

Their next opponent, LA Rams, ironically moved to 13 in the rankings. Right behind the Dallas Cowboys.

It is in no way a direct correlation for the Cowboys to win, but a positive reinforcement. At the rate the Cowboys are playing, there’s reason to believe Dallas can continue their trajectory.
