Luka Doncic is many things to the Dallas Mavericks.

Yet, recently, Stacey King, a former teammate of Michael Jordan and current Chicago Bulls announcer, admitted similarities between Dallas’ superstar and one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA, following Doncic’s playoff performance against the Phoenix Suns.

“All the talking [Devin] Booker and all those guys were doing that upset Luka, I remember after the game, they’re walking off, and Luka made some comment,” King said on a podcast in July. “When I saw him do that, it brought back MJ DNA, that’s something MJ would do.

“That was the turning point of the series.”

The comment King is referring to is when Doncic said, following a Game 5 loss to Phoenix, “everybody acts tough when they are up.”

What happened next was a dismantling of Phoenix led by Doncic.

The Mavericks won the series’ final two games and Doncic averaged 34 points, 10.5 rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Already, Doncic has drawn comparisons to all-time greats. Every summer, Doncic has been voted one of the best young players in the league, and next season he aims to build on the Jordan comparisons he’s garnered thus far.
