Well, that was fast.

On Tuesday, the Cowboys released undrafted free agent wide receiver Dennis Houston. However, on Wednesday, Houston re-signed with the Cowboys’ practice squad after clearing waivers, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Michael Gallup has been ramping up his participation in practice and is taking a full slate of reps this week in hopes to play against the New York Giants next Monday, which could have been the main reason for the Cowboys releasing Houston.

Houston was one of the bright spots for the Cowboys during training camp which earned him a spot on their final 53-man roster. However, the first two games of the regular season didn’t go as smoothly as Houston only had two receptions for 16 yards on seven targets.

Fortunately for Houston, he gets to stay with the Cowboys, at least for the time being, and he may get an opportunity to show what he can do when games matter the most if he’s called up to the active roster at some point.
