Former Lions 1st round pick suffers leg injury
Former Lion Jeff Okudah leaves Falcons practice with leg injury
Injuries are the most unfortunate part of professional sports. And a former DetroitLion suffered one Friday when Jeff Okudah left Falcons practice on a cart. Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report this news.
The Lions drafted CB Jeff Okudah with the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of The Ohio State University. Okudah's time with the Lions was plagued with injuries. During his rookie season, he suffered a hamstring injury during training camp, forcing him to miss the season opener. His rookie season would end on IR after undergoing surgery in December of 2020.
His sophomore season would end even earlier to the same fate as he would be placed on IR after rupturing his chilies during the 2021 season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
He is coming off his healthiest season in the NFL, where he played in 15 games for the Lions in 2022. Okudah showed a lot of promise in 2022, which led the Atlanta Falcons to trade a 5th-round pick for the former 1st-round selection.
He had been getting run with the Falcons' 1st and 2nd teams at corner, and many Falcons fans were very excited to see him in the team's defense. They will now have to wait for the results from Okudah's MRI to see when he will make his Falcons debut.
