The Detroit Lions are in a very unique spot heading into the start of free agency.

On one hand, the franchise has made it clear at every turn that it fully supports starting quarterback Jared Goff. On the other hand, Goff does have a clear ceiling as a player, and a ceiling at quarterback play does not bode well for long-term Super Bowl contending windows.

The Lions could easily address this by pursuing Lamar Jackson during this tumultuous period.

Jackson would immediately become the best quarterback in the conference based on the lack of other consistent talent, but a move like this wouldn't be cheap.

Two first-round picks and a massive contract are far from something to wave off in the pursuit of a player that does have a concerning history with injuries, but the odds remain that Detroit does make a lot of sense for the former MVP.

Sportsbetting.ag currently has the Lions as the betting favorite to land Jackson if he leaves the Ravens at +300.

This is interesting news based on the price and the presence of Jared Goff, but a move like this does still make a lot of sense for a team that wants to go from being outside of the playoffs to competing for a Super Bowl in the shortest time possible.

It feels like Lamar Jackson will probably end up with a different team based on these difficult mountains to overcome, but it is hard to see a move that will be bigger and more significant during the coming months, and the Lions at least being in the mix is a good sign for the status of the team.
