McDonald is a freakishly athletic EDGE, with crazy bend, speed, and pursuit ability. Despite being used as a base defensive end in college, he showed insane potential as a stand up edge rusher, the spot I expect him to play in the NFL.

Strengths:

1. Speed- Will McDonald IV is explosive and quick off the line and is no stranger to making tackles looks lost. McDonald's length and speed paired together will create problems for his opposition in the NFL.

2. Pursuit- Will McDonald IV is an excellent trickster in the pass rush game. Oftentimes, he shows tackles one pass rush technique and quickly adjusts to another one. McDonald IV also has excellent bend, making it hard for tackles to block him. His route to the quarterback is a thing of beauty. McDonald IV also has an 82 inch wingspan, which will help him tremendously in forcing strip sacks.

3. Athleticism- McDonald IV played defensive end at Iowa State, but will most likely be a stand up edge rush in whatever scheme he winds up on in the NFL. He is seen as undersized for his position standing at 6'3 and weighing 241 pounds, but his explosiveness and length will silence the naysayers.

Weaknesses:

1. Gets caught in blocks- Although McDonald IV has amazing strength and athleticism, once lineman get their hands on McDonald, he typically struggles to break free.

2. Slow hands- Along with getting caught in blocks, McDonald needs to improve the speed of his pass rush moves. Slow hands don't eat in the NFL.

3. Run Defense- McDonald's game is highlighted by his pass rush. McDonald IV racked up 33 sacks in his 4 years as a cyclone. There is no doubt McDonald's pass rush has elite potential in the NFL. Although this is true, his run defense is the most glaring area for improvement.
