New team, same Drew Gilbert. The former Vols baseball standout had an epic outing in his first day as a professional.
Drafted in the first round by the Houston Astros, Gilbert is playing for the Astros Orange in the Florida Complex League. The FCL is the lowest level of minor league baseball, but is where almost every draft pick begins their journey to the majors.
In Thursday’s doubleheader, Gilbert’s first at-bat as a professional baseball player resulted in a home run.
